About as creative as I get

My in-laws did something like this in the windows of their home to diffuse the light, and after much thought I decided that was what I wanted to do to. So don't think I thought it up myself. :)

John and his Dad measured the windows and built the wood frames in less than an hour. You go boys!

I couldn't keep up with them and before I was finished covering one frame with fabric, they were done with all four.

I had to iron the fabric (ugh!) so it would lay right, and if you know me, I don't iron. Mom, you'd be proud!

The dumb staple gun kept getting jammed and it made my job so much harder. John finally helped me in the end by nailing in brads as I stretched the fabric.

"Be careful honey!" You probably thought I meant for him to be careful not to fall, but really I was thinking that he better be careful and not mark up my wall with the ladder. Just kidding, probably had you thinking I was totally obnoxious, but I actually held the ladder steady for him. We did however touch up with paint afterwards before we returned the ladder to his Dad.

This is the finished product. Custom window coverings with the prettiest material I could find to match our couches that will eventually go in this room.

The cost--- around $70

FYI, a couple that works together stays together.

Jerry and I learned early on never to assemble ANYTHING together without a third person in the room! Amazing accomplishment you two!

Neat! You never really said much about your new house. Are you happy you moved? Do you like it better?

Cool idea and they look great. How did John hang them?

How did you actually attach them to the window?
We only have one window in our entry that causes problems, so it's not likely my husband would do this BUT it's still something that I'll keep in the back of my mind.

What a great idea - I'm also wondering how they were attached to the window? It's nice to do home decorating things! LOOKS GOOD!

Looks great! I needed that idea for our old house! I HUGE very bright window that made it so you couldn't see ANYTHING for about 3 hours every afternoon! Where were you 2 years ago? lol

Great window treatments! I saw the little boy you had a post about with spina bifida, is he who you were referring to? You were not out of line, we want to keep our hearts open to whoever God has in mind for us. We know He already has our child hand picked.

Great idea and wonderful results. Bob and I have redone the ENTIRE inside of our house while we live in it with three kids! Walls, insulation, electric and plumbing. I don't really recall difficulties between the two of us, and it's taken us 5 years! We do a project as we get the money. Right now we are planning on doing Anah's bedroom! She likes pink, so pink it will be! Your house looks beautiful!

That looks great! When I paint I always stick a pair of old work gloves on the top ends of the ladder that will be against the wall to avoid scratches.
