What do you do when your hibernating?

The house was shut down by 8:30 last night. I was in bed too. I could have been mistaken as a bear in hibernation.

The good news: I had a good night's rest.

The bad news: I feel awful because the tooth fairy forgot to visit William. This is a boy who was so excited that he put his tooth under his pillow as soon as he got home from school. sigh

  2. She must have had an extra busy night last night. There are an awful lot of 5-8 year olds in the world. Probably half of them lost a tooth yesterday and she just needs a little more time to catch up with everyone.

  4. We have a geriatric tooth fairy. She keeps forgetting, which means xtra money!:)
Another time, the tooth fairy broke and wing and had to call her fairy brother in law, and he couldn't find the right address, so that meant more money too!

  5. I hate when I do that--forget to leave the quarter!! Once I told the child the tooth fairy probaby came while she was refusing to go to sleep for me and didn't leave the quarter so she'd have to go to sleep when she was suppose to the next night and see if the tooth fairy would stop again. Another time I "discovered" where the quarter had fallen on the floor out of sight. Isn't it funny what we do not to have our children be disappointed??

Hey, send your girls to my girls blog and they can win YOU a book. (Almost totally Christian fiction. Nothing deep.)

  6. Uggg... that is the worst feeling. And it is not as if you can re-do the night. I forgot once too... made up for it the next night with a note. My son figured things out and pulled his next tooth and did not tell anyone. Hid it under the pillow to see if there really was a tooth fairy. That bugger.

  7. Our family has been observing really early bed times and really late wake up calls too. It is weird but your hibernation theory just might be right. Afterall, when it's below zero outside with three feet of snow that has an ice crust 4 inches thick on top, you aren't really in a hurry to go anywhere or do anything so that leaves - SLEEP, MARVELOUS SLEEP!

  8. Our tooth fairy forgot and the next night along with the toy (our tooth fairy leaves little toys) there was a neat little note that said the snow had really delayed her and she was so sorry, but that she hoped the treat she left made up for it. My son bought it, completely.

  9. Our tooth fairy forgot once too and also left a note... it went over ok but I'll never forget the sad look Kassidy gave that morning when she came into my room holding her tooth! *sigh* Our tooth fairy leaves gold dollars so Kass got 2 extra that time. Guilt money. Works every time!

  10. I think my Mom threw the money under my bed one time when she forgot. So, she asked me to check under my bed "just in case the money fell on the floor". It might be worth a try!

  11. Only thing worse than forgetting it all together...getting caught in the morning when you remember and try and sneak in before they are awake. Oh...it is awful. You feel like you are stealing part of their childhood when they see you.

  13. 9pm EST baby. DOn't feel too bad about the tooth fairy. I have done that before, only to be thoroughly surprised that the tooth fairy visited the kitchen counter when the small fry was in the potty brushing his teeth:) Worked like a charm.

  14. You guys don't know how much comfort I felt after coming home to read your posts. They really helped me to not feel like such a bad mom. I have forgotten to have the tooth fairy visit before, but not with William who has not lost very many teeth and has been really looking forward to this day. I just felt like I really let him down because he was so bummed out. I am going to use the broken wing letter. ;)

  15. Don't worry too much about the tooth. The tooth fairy does this sometimes. She's a very busy fairy. She did this at my house once...and I agree, she should make it up with extra $$$. But I'm sure it's all been settled since I'm a late poster. Poor fairy with that broken wing and all :-) Terry

  16. My kids actually hope the tooth fairy gets delayed because they know to expect double the money the next night.
